Artist Statement: My mission is to portray the depth of human emotion and expression in my work. I want my paintings to convey the wonder of life and the depth of beauty found in the ordinary. Nothing is more essential to my process than using the contrasts of light and dark to portray emotion and lend dimension. I'm curious about human attachment through cherished people, pets, objects, and places and am most at ease with my art when I am in able to get that feeling across. I'm a Maine-based pastel, charcoal and watercolor artist who paints portraits and figures of people and animals, and whatever else captures my eye. Coming to my creative pursuits late in life, I am enjoying newfound freedom to follow my artistic instincts whenever...
